Handmade Checkbook Cover Scrapbook Craft: Part 3 of Christmas Crafts to Make

by Editor

checkbook_covers2 Who says scrapbook crafts has to stay in a scrapbook? This is an easy kid craft project that can be personalized in a thousand ways, including scrapbooking. It’s also a thoughtful, budget-conscious idea for holiday craft or birthday craft – instead of buying presents, your kid can give out these functional checkbook covers to each of their favorite adults.  They can simply customize the checkbook cover to include each person’s favorite movies, bands, sports teams, etc.  You get the idea.  It’s especially handy for those last minute gifts and stocking stuffer.  I also think it’s a wonderful way of showcasing your kids artwork and scrapbooking skills.

Anyways, without further ado, let’s get to the instructions!

Scrapbook Crafts Supplies:

  • Clear plastic checkbook cover (You can get these at office supply stores)
  • Scrapbook crafts paper.  Whatever you desire – it can be gift wrap, old map, magazine pages, newspaper, recycled grocery bags, or your kids’ artwork

Scrapbook Crafts Instruction:

  1. Open the checkbook cover and lay the cover flat on a table.
  2. Trace the shape of the checkbook cover onto your paper and cut the paper to the shape of the checkbook cover.  (You may want to cut along the inside of the trace to ensure that the paper is slightly smaller than the checkbook cover.)
  3. If you’ve opted to use plain paper, ask your kids to draw their favorite things onto the paper using crayons, color pencils and marker. Or, if your kids are into scrapbooking, have them create a mini-scrapbook page by laying out some family photos onto the paper.
  4. When you’re done with the paper, simply slide it into the clear plastic checkbook cover. Your kids have just created a simple, highly personal DIY holiday craft, ready to be gifted!
