How to Make Light Switch Covers
Today we’re going to work on a sweet little craft project – light switch cover plates. This is a project suitable for even very young kids. The supplies list is short and the items are easy to find. The variations for this project are endless. The most important ingredient is your child’s imagination.
Let’s get started!
You’ll need:
- A bunch of craft sticks
- Glue
- 1 sheet of craft foam
- Utility Knife – you’ll have to help with this part
- Decoration – you can use different items like paint, stickers, buttons, gems, scrapbook paper die-cuts, pressed flower, dried flower, etc
- Double sided tape
How to make light switch cover plates:
- Cut the craft foam into the size of the light switch plate cover. Mark where the switch should poke through and cut a hole (if your kids are too young to use utility knife, you should do this part for them).
- Glue craft sticks side by side to the foam and let it dry completely. Trim any excess foam sheet or craft sticks.
- Decorate the switch plate cover. The possibilities are limitless. Your kids could personalize with their names, decorate them to match the room décor, or design it based on favorite tv shows, movies or singers/bands. Paint the craft stickers. Add the stickers, buttons, flowers, gems according to the design.
- Once your kids are done, use double sided tape to stick it to the existing switch cover.
